Meg & the Magnetosphere is a psychedelic folk rock band formed around emotive lyrical melodies of front-woman Meganne Stepka. The Cleveland,OH based band formed in early 2016, released an EP * Radio Silence for Dreams * in 2017 and went on a U.S. summer tour by the same name. Radio Silence for Dreams the EP is on all music streaming services including apple music & spotify.
Meg leads the band with a vision that “Music is a Universal Language.” She writes from a place of authenticity & vulnerability, where an existentialist mind meets a utilitarian heart, and commits to communication in frequencies that seek to transcend space & time. “Imagine, if a song could make the whole world cry together, maybe we could begin to heal together” (Stepka’s thoughts on the power of music).
Meg & the Magnetosphere is a self-producing band. Everything you hear and see has their energy, time and tears written into the code. All of the band members have experience/expertise in the recording arts. In addition to making their own albums & videos, Meganne, Lisa, Dave & Chris have all worked outside Meg & the Magnetosphere separately with multiple projects, including live-sound & record engineering, music video production and performs solo/ with other bands.
Meganne knows music has the potential to unite and create positive vibrations in our lives, whether for profession or hobby, or anywhere in between; music brings people together and out of themselves, into shared experiences; because of this belief, Meg hosts & curates weekly Open Mic Nights & Songwriter’s Series in her home town of Cleveland, (lakewood) Ohio.
The Band is currently working on a new album that was put on hold during the quarantine of 2020, however we did release a very special single from the album in 2020 Tabula Rosa and we hope to get back to mixing the full album soon. The band also has recently welcomed Dee Deprator as a new member! During 2020 Meg & the Magnetosphere has been live streaming each month during 48 hour virtual music and has gotten together for a few other very special socially distanced shows and live streaming concerts including this psychedelic experience at the Maltz Performing Arts Center – where Meg created a spacey video overlay for the live stream team to use with the live show!
